Switchover

Digital Switchover roll-out is now complete.

The digital Switchover in the Central TV Region is now complete. With the digital signals now at full strength you should have better reception on most TVs.

Check all your TVs & Boxes have been re-tuned.

Now is a good time to check that every Freeview box and digital TV in your home has been re-tuned, see the advice below. If you still have any reception problems, call Nick!

There will be more re-tuning needed as Freeview channels come and go but these should not be as frequent as we experienced this last summer. Click to Like our Facebook page, see below,  to get warnings of future retuning events in your status feed.

Retuning your Digital Set-top Box or Digital TV

When the switch-over process starts you will need to re-tune your Freeview TV set-top boxes and digital TVs at least 2 times. For some transmitters there are 5 planned retuning dates and at any time along the way you may lose channels and have to retune to get these back. Check out switchover timetable for the dates for your transmitter then follow our Guide to Retuning if you are not familiar with doing this on your equipment. A Digital Aerial and Freeview Box or TV with Freeview

There are a number of options to receive the Freeview Digital TV services with no need to replace your current TV set. Currently, the most common choice to receive digital signals is to have a digital TV aerial installed at your property, along with a digital receiver box. There is no requirements to replace your television, however if you do want to update your television set, you could also purchase a television with an inbuilt digital receiver, and even HD.

NO MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTIONS: Freeview Digital TV does not require a monthly subscription to enjoy the free to view channels but there are a number of additional digital TV channels which are available on “Top Up TV” as Pay to View channels, for which you will need to ensure your receiver has a CAM card access.

Freeview have now launched Freeview+ providing anyone with a Freeview+ digital receiver, the ability to record their programmes of choice without the need for tapes/dvd’s or a separate HDD recorder.

The Freeview+ digital receiver incorporates all the technology of standard Freeview, but features a hard disk to store all your recorded programmes. Furthermore, you can also pause, rewind and fast forward live TV! This feature will ensure you never miss a moment of your favourite television viewing again, even when you have an unexpected visitor!
